Stories From the Heart of The County

By Local authors with local stories.

The co-editors /contributors, Betsy York and Steve Hitchcock, are charter members of the Central Aroostook Historical Society started on January 25, 2010. Story authors are mainly local residents sharing their memories.

The stories include those written by about 40 local residents plus others based upon video interviews. The purpose of the book is to document local history for future generations to enjoy. Topics include early schools, various farming families and operations, descriptions of life in the past on Main Street, Mars Hill, genealogy, hunting & fishing and history mysteries. The book asks for feedback from the readers and is searching for answers to history mystery photos. The feedback will be posted on our website: centralaroostookhistory.com. Enjoy this collection of history and at the same time help raise funds for the Central Aroostook Historical Society.
